The Mike McDaniel Effect On Fantasy Football

The Mike McDaniel Effect On Fantasy Football

Not sure if you've noticed, but there are only two winless teams remaining in the NFL. And both of them are tied closely to Mike McDaniel. Whether it's correlation or causation, we can't ignore the Mike McDaniel Effect.

  • The Dolphins are 0-5 without Mike McDaniel, who was fired in January after four seasons as the HC in Miami.
  • The Chargers are 0-6 with Mike McDaniel, who joined their organization as OC in January this season.

Teams are damned with him and damned without him. It’s a real Catch-22. Because MIA and LAC are living in a literal paradoxical “no-win” situation.

Fun fact: Only one of the 11 games played by MIA and LAC has resulted in 22 completed passes. Only one "Catch-22," if you will.

So how do we move on from here?

As Berry stated last week, none of the Chargers RBs are startable at this point in time. And regardless of how you explain the pains away with "bad o-line issues" or "tough matchups" or otherwise, there’s no ignoring the abysmal rankings on these teams each week.

Outside of Ollie Gordon, no positional player is approaching startable status outside of deeper leagues in Week 7:

  • Malik Willis Consensus QB27
  • Malik Washington Consensus WR39
  • Greg Dulcich Consensus TE31
  • Ollie Gordon Consensus RB20

Sorry for the doom and gloom. The McDaniel Effect will do that to ya. BUT there is one nugget of good news for managers who roster McDaniel's current players in Week 7:

The Chargers are on Bye. So, McDaniel can't hurt us this week.

How About Some Peace Of Mind?

There’s a peace of mind that comes with knowing you have certain players on your fantasy roster. That Joe Burrow-Ja’Marr Chase stack is just so sweet. See Bijan Robinson in that RB1 slot, you can just write him down for 100+ scrimmage yards and a couple TDs. And Trey McBride, just chalk him up for 10+ targets and elite WR numbers out of the TE slot.

Peace of mind is also important when it comes to your home, family and connected life. Introducing Xfinity Shield, a defensive line for your home and devices. Users can opt-in to built-in WiFi protection features such as:

  • Detect motion in your home with the Xfinity Gateway, no cameras needed

How the hell did we get here?!

  • Patrick Mahomes is … QB18?
  • Tyler Higbee is TE4?!
  • Deshaun Watson is QB13?

According to Alex Cupps, they are. He's bucking the system in Week 7 and ready to defend why he's higher or lower on these players than consensus.

Wait …

It might be over for Juwan Johnson?? Say it ain't so!!
