DraftKings NFL DFS Picks For Chiefs vs. Seahawks Showdown Slate
Jason Cohen examines the DraftKings Sunday Night Football Chiefs vs. Seahawks Showdown Slate for Week 7, identifying the best captain picks, flex picks and more.
We’re ending off our weekend with a SNF contest between the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are home and are currently 2.5-point favorites in a 42.5-point total. This projects to be a close and exciting game to end our weekend and a solid NFL DFS contest.
I'm going to be breaking down the DraftKings DFS showdown that we have for this game. First, I'll highlight some players that I want to target in the captain spot, who get a 1.5x fantasy-point boost. High-upside players are who I want to target here, and the lower the ownership, the better. I will then break down some flex position plays that I like to round out your lineups.
Let's dive into it!
DraftKings Week 7 DFS Chiefs vs. Seahawks Captain Picks
Jaxon Smith-Njigba | WR | SEA ($17,400)
Projected as the slate's most optimal captain, Jaxon Smith-Njigba looks like the preferred captain pick for cash games. He is the top fantasy wide receiver in the NFL, and he has gone over 100 yards in five of his first six games this season. Last week he caught 12 of 16 targets for 134 yards in the overtime loss to the Broncos. The Seahawks have not been able to get much going on the ground, which keeps the offense flowing through him. He is the one constant in this offense, and in a closely projected game, JSN is the safest captain pick.
Kenneth Walker | RB | KC ($18,000)
Next, I'm going to mention Kenneth Walker. He has had an incredible start to the year with the Chiefs, rushing for 665 yards and six touchdowns through five games. He has added two receiving touchdowns as well, for eight total on the year, and has gone over 100 rushing yards in four of five games. Last week he had 19 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns against the Chargers. With Rashee Rice out again, I expect the Chiefs to keep leaning on him. This is also a revenge game against his former team, the Seahawks. In GPPs, I like getting to Walker at the captain over JSN because of his ceiling and the lower ownership I expect.
Xavier Worthy | WR | KC ($10,500)
Let's end captain picks with Xavier Worthy. With Rashee Rice ruled out for a second straight game and Tyquan Thornton on injured reserve, Worthy is clearly Patrick Mahomes' top option. Last week he played 84% of the snaps and caught all seven of his targets for 73 yards. He has big play upside, and it only takes one deep shot to turn into a huge game. Mahomes threw for 272 yards without a touchdown pass last week, so I like the passing game to have some positive touchdown regression here. Most of the Chiefs' builds are going to land on Walker, so getting to Worthy captain is a nice way to get different.
DraftKings SNF DFS Chiefs vs. Seahawks Flex Picks
Emanuel Wilson | RB | SEA ($6,400)
To start off flex plays, I'm going to mention Emanuel Wilson. He has been filling in for a banged-up Seahawks backfield and had 14 carries for 52 yards in the loss to the Broncos last week. It hasn't been efficient, as he is down to 3.4 yards per carry on the season, but the volume is there. Zach Charbonnet was taken off the PUP list, but I'm not expecting him to play here. George Holani also found the end zone last week, which adds some touchdown risk. I like Wilson as a GPP flex,
Jason Myers | K | SEA ($5,200), Harrison Butker | K | KC ($4,800)
Next, let's look at the kickers. I love kickers on showdowns, and this is one of those games that I like them in even more. The total is only 42.5, and both of these defenses are tough to move the ball on. Seattle held Denver to 168 total yards last week, and Kansas City had four sacks against the Chargers. Both offenses are going to stall out, which could result in a lot of field goal attempts. Myers made a 55-yard field goal and a 34-yarder to send last week's game to overtime but also missed a 47-yarder. Butker is not at his best, making 10 of 13 field goals on the season, but he was three of four on field goals last week. I'm happy to take either in the flex. Great midrange options.
Andrew Armstrong | WR | KC ($2,000)
Andrew Armstrong is my preferred value play for the showdown. With Rice out and Thornton on injured reserve, Armstrong was elevated from the practice squad last week and played 42 snaps, which was 69% of the offense. He only caught one pass for 13 yards on two targets, and a lot of his role was run blocking for Kenneth Walker, but he ran 24 routes, the third most of any Chiefs receiver. He was signed to the full roster on Friday, and he looks to have a role again.
His floor is low, but at such a cheap price tag, he is someone who won't kill you, while still providing a ceiling. He's the best option at the bottom. Other playable values are Velus Jones ($1,400) and Jalen Royals ($3,400)
