Kendall's Key Questions for Week 7: TE Streamers, Start/Sit Decisions, and More
Kendall Valenzuela answers your fantasy football mailbag questions for Week 7, including tight end streamers, start/sit questions, and more fantasy dilemmas.
Kendall's Key Questions for Week 7
Leslie - Kentucky: Start Sit - Woody Marks or Jaylen Waddle or Jordan Mason in flex?
It's another week without David Montgomery, and Jawhar Jordan was placed on IR this week (because we can't have nice things), so I think you have to go with Woody Marks in this spot. The Texans are facing the Giants on Sunday, who give opposing running back rooms a 2.9 point per game boost. Marks has been at least serviceable with Montgomery out and has averaged 11.3 points per game over the last two weeks.
I feel like we truly cannot be turning to Jaylen Waddle for the Broncos until we see something turn around with the offense as a whole. According to Matthew Berry's 10 Facts to Know, this season quarterback Bo Nix has an average depth of target of 5.4 yards. WOOF. In the last two games alone, Nix has completed only four passes that traveled at least seven air yards. Waddle is currently the WR50 on the season and has to be benched if you haven't already dropped him in your leagues.
As for Jordan Mason's return, I think he will take over the backfield eventually, but Aaron Jones will still be involved, which makes me lean towards starting Marks. It's a nice matchup for the Vikings going up against the Colts, who are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs across the league.
Jay - FL: Need a tight end stream this week with Tyler Warren out. Thoughts?
I think a couple easy options are going to be Michael Mayer or Tyler Higbee this week. The Rams are a man down without Davante Adams for the next 6-10 weeks, and Puka Nacua is dealing with a calf injury. Higbee has averaged 12.4 points per game in four games and should be the number two option in this offense until we see Terrance Ferguson return.
For Mayer, in three of four games since Brock Bowers returned, he has produced a route rate above 70%, and we've seen him walk away with an 18% target share and 15 points per game. Both are very much startable.
If you want a deep league pickup, I would go with Cade Otton now that we have news that Emeka Egbuka is doubtful to play on Sunday against the Panthers. Carolina gives up a pretty good boost to opposing tight ends, and Otton should be available on waivers across the board.
Bob - CA: Superflex league, sit one. Kirk Cousins or Kyler Murray?
Kirk Cousins has been on a roll, but I am going with starting Kyler Murray between the two this weekend. Cousins bounced back last week, but now he faces a Rams defense that has limited passers to the second-fewest yards per attempt. Murray is coming off the bye and is facing the Colts, who are not very much of an intimidating defense for opposing quarterbacks. Plus the Vikings will be well-rested coming off their bye—the last time we saw Murray he was completing 80% of passes and rushed for 51 yards.
Billy - GA: Who are you starting in Guillotine Leagues that some might be nervous about, but you feel pretty good?
My whole roster in a couple Guillotine Leagues is not pretty, but I'm happy to be going back to Omar Cooper. We got the news that Adonai Mitchell will return, so his presence could really send Cooper's value down, but I really like the matchup against the Dolphins. We can't expect 20+ fantasy point outings for Cooper every week, but Geno Smith is averaging 223 yards per game right now, so we could have multiple fantasy-relevant starters here.
